Angela Choi.

Background
Angela received her B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She is a Ph.D. candidate, currently completing her final year of studies under the supervision of Dr. Dusica Maysinger in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at McGill University.

Research highlight
Angela's research focuses on the use of nanoparticles as in vivo imaging and drug delivery tools for the diagnosis and treatment of ischemic stroke.  More specifically, the objectives of her thesis are two-folds: i) to devise a novel imaging technique, using fluorescent nanocrystals, for the early detection and monitoring of microlesions in vivo;  ii) to deliver polymeric micelle-encapsulated anti-inflammatory drugs to lesion sites, and prevent the propagation of neural damage by targeting microglial activation.
